My Dear Children,
As I sit and peer into the beautiful face of your sweet new sister, I’m in awe of her peacefulness, her perfection. I ponder, What is it about new life that brings hymns and lullaby to the lips of all whom behold? What is it about their dainty features and tiny hands and feet that make you desire to hold?
For Mother and Father at what point does this change? When the babe grows to tot and wants to run free? When the growing child won’t fit your lap? When the youth wakes in the night and no longer wants to snuggle in? When the adolescent is bold enough to show disdain for the rules? When the young adult is able to serve and protect all on their own? Or is it when they have their own children to hold? I tell you no, the love never changes. Much like wedding vows: we take you, child of God, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. My love for each of you is rooted deep in my soul; part of my being. I truly love you.
Late night tuck ins. Wiping tears from your face. Chasing away the bad dreams. holding you when sick. Washing your clothes. Making your dinner. Walking you to your first class. At the bookstore with you purchasing college texts. Working on your taxes with you. Never a hesitation. Always done with love
All For Christ,
